Brotherly Love is about the fraternal ties that connect Elks to one another and the responsibility to extend that care beyond the Lodge.
In Elks ritual, the Esteemed Lecturing Knight’s station is explicitly associated with Brotherly Love. The principle is represented as part of the foundation on which the Order is built.
For Shawn, the point is simple: care becomes meaningful when somebody actually shows up and does the work.
Current initiative
Pack a lunch. Provide a lifeline.
Shawn is supporting a Lodge effort with Desi McConnell and Mike Miller to prepare sack lunches for people experiencing homelessness in our community.
In one recent packing session, nine newly initiated members joined Shawn and Desi to prepare 105 sack lunches as an early act of service as Elks. Each bag included a PB&J sandwich, fruit cup and Goldfish crackers.
The lunches were distributed at Moeur Park and supplement outreach connected with AZHugs, where volunteers provide meals, hygiene supplies and other resources.

Why it matters
A simple project with an immediate result.
There is no complicated barrier to entry here. Members can help prepare lunches, contribute needed supplies or volunteer alongside other Elks.
That is exactly why the project works as an expression of Shawn’s station: people working side by side, doing something useful for neighbours who need support.
