The mission
Supporting veterans in practical ways.
The Veterans Committee creates opportunities for Lodge members and the community to help veterans and service members through direct support, partnerships, donations and volunteer service.
Under Kelly's leadership, the committee also helps the Lodge recognize military service and remember those who gave their lives for our country.
Every donation, care package, partnership and hour volunteered helps extend the Lodge's service beyond our own walls.

A $400 Welcome Home Package
Kelly Rich and Veterans Committee member Penn Black delivered a Welcome Home Package to Glen Sheppard, E3, U.S. Coast Guard, helping him get started in a new apartment.

Deployment Care Packages for the 161st Air Refueling Wing
The Veterans Committee organized a deployment care-package drive for members of the 161st Air Refueling Wing, giving Lodge members a direct way to send useful items and encouragement to service members.
Members contributed food, drinks and personal-care items for deployment care packages.
Flag Day & U.S. Army 251st Birthday
Scottsdale Elks #2148 continued one of Elkdom's proudest traditions with its Flag Day Ceremony and recognized the United States Army's 251st birthday.
Memorial Day Remembrance
Scottsdale Elks #2148 began Memorial Day with a Flag Ceremony presented by Scouts Troop 201 and a community Pancake Breakfast. At Scottsdale Civic Center, Exalted Ruler Justin McDaniel delivered Memorial Day remarks honoring those who gave the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.

The Lodge welcomed Ukrainian soldier-volunteers Cactus and Tryzub for a meet-and-greet where they shared their experiences with members and guests.
Veterans Committee Impact
Direct help close to home.
In August alone, the Veterans Committee helped provide a $400 Welcome Home Package for a U.S. Coast Guard veteran moving into a new apartment and presented a $1,000 contribution to U.S.VETS.
Those efforts are part of broader year-round work that also includes deployment care packages, remembrance, community partnerships and opportunities for members to give and volunteer.
